About me
Hi, I’m Jana!
Your German Friend. 🤎
It all started with a phone call. Actually, quite a few of them!
Over the years, I've often been the person my American friends turned to when they needed a little help navigating life in Germany.
“What does this letter mean?”
“Can you help me make this appointment?”
“Could you translate this for me?”
“How does this work in Germany?”
Sound familiar?
I'm German, married to an American, and a mom of three. I've been living in the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC) area since 2018, and being part of a German-American family has given me a unique perspective on both cultures.
I also work as an administrative assistant at an American church here in the KMC area, where translating, communicating with German businesses, making phone calls, and helping people navigate everyday situations have naturally become part of my work. Somewhere along the way, I became the go-to German friend whenever someone needed a little help.
And you know what? I genuinely love helping people!
Living in another country can be an exciting adventure, but it can also feel overwhelming at times. Even simple things can suddenly become challenging when you're unfamiliar with the language and culture.
And that's how My German Friend was born.
I believe that living in Germany should be more than just getting through your time here. I want you to feel welcome, comfortable, and confident enough to enjoy your experience, discover the little things that make Germany special, and feel at home, even if it's only for a season.
Whether you're new to Germany or have been here for years, you don't have to figure it out alone. Having someone who knows the language, understands the culture, and is happy to help can make all the difference.
Whether you need someone to accompany you to an appointment, help you understand a German letter, navigate a grocery store, or simply answer a question, I'm here to help.
Because sometimes, all you need is a German friend by your side.
I'm so glad you're here, and I look forward to meeting you!
Jana
By Your Side in Germany.
